About Me
For the past sixteen years, I have had the privilege of serving others as a registered nurse—eleven of those years with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Nursing has given me the opportunity to walk alongside people during some of the most meaningful, vulnerable, and hopeful moments of their lives. But during the COVID-19 pandemic, I began to feel deeply unsettled by how much of our healthcare system remains rooted in a “What is the matter?” mindset—focused on problems, diagnoses, and fixing what is broken—while giving far less attention to what truly helps people thrive.
That tension led me to begin searching for a better way to support health and healing—one that honored the whole person. In 2020, I discovered the VA’s Whole Health approach, and it changed the trajectory of my career. I soon transitioned into Primary Care and became determined to immerse myself fully in Whole Health education and training. Around that same time, I also recognized the tremendous need to care for the caregivers themselves, which eventually opened the door for me to serve as the Employee Whole Health Coordinator at the San Francisco VA.
For the past several years, I have facilitated weekly virtual Whole Health sessions for staff across disciplines and have led multiple four- and eight-week Live Whole Health challenges. The outcomes have been inspiring: staff consistently report feeling happier, healthier, more grounded in what matters most to them, and more empowered to bring Whole Health into their work with Veterans. Watching lives shift—sometimes gently, sometimes profoundly—has confirmed what I now believe wholeheartedly:
Whole Health changes people. And when people change, communities change.
Today, I continue to share this work beyond the VA, partnering with schools, community organizations, and faith communities, and even teaching Whole Health concepts in my children’s classrooms. I specialize in adapting content to meet the unique needs of each audience, guiding individuals and groups to clarify their values and reconnect with their Mission, Aspiration, and Purpose. By exploring the eight Whole Health domains through curiosity, compassion, and practical tools, people begin to rediscover their voice, their strength, and their ability to thrive.
I believe this approach has the power to transform not only individuals, but entire systems. By infusing Whole Health into schools, healthcare environments, recovery programs, congregations, and neighborhoods, we can create healthier cultures—places where people feel connected, supported, resilient, and alive. My hope is that this work becomes a ripple effect, nurturing the type of community where wellness becomes a way of life—what some might even call a “blue zone.”
Whole Health has changed my life and the lives of so many I’ve had the privilege to serve. It is my joy to share this work with others—one person, one group, one community at a time.
